Q. What is the red wire at the head unit side of the supplied video extension cable?

The red wire off the RCA cable is an optional trigger wire from the rear to the front. You may utilize it to jump the same power wire from the rear to the front or vice versa. If you have already wired to your vehicle and it's working, you do not need to connect that wire. You may leave it as an open. Make sure to cover the lead wire with electrical tape as it is hot 12VDC when in reverse.
